AAPL Member Spotlight

What led you to pursue a career as a Physician Liaison?

Early in my career, I was looking for a role that would allow me to develop highly transferable skills applicable across industries. The physician liaison profession offered exactly that—exposure to marketing, finance, operations, strategy, business development, and relationship management—all within a single role. It provided a continuous learning environment while allowing me to make a meaningful and measurable impact.

How long have you been in this role?

I have more than 13 years of experience across a variety of physician liaison roles.

What do you love most about being a liaison?

The people and the continuous learning. Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of working with incredibly genuine, diverse, and talented individuals. Being a liaison places you at the center of the organization—as a connector and facilitator—and that unique vantage point fuels constant growth, curiosity, and professional evolution.

How has your AAPL membership supported your growth as a liaison and leader?

My AAPL membership has been invaluable to my professional development. Through exposure to best practices, meaningful connections, and ongoing education, I’ve benefited tremendously from board involvement, special interest groups, committees, and peer networking nationwide. Much of my growth as both a liaison and a leader can be directly attributed to my engagement with AAPL.

What AAPL resource or event has been the most valuable?

It’s difficult to pinpoint a single resource, but the professional connections and networking opportunities have been especially impactful. Through SIGs, committees, open forums, and conferences, AAPL consistently brings together industry leaders who are innovating, sharing insights, and pushing the profession forward. Many of my most valued and enduring professional relationships were formed through AAPL.

What advice would you give someone new to the Physician Liaison profession?

Be a sponge—learn as much as you can and never hesitate to ask questions. Just as important, get comfortable being uncomfortable. Adaptability, curiosity, and openness to change are essential qualities for long-term success in this role.

What is something people might be surprised to learn about you?

I’m a travel and adventure enthusiast at heart. I’ve visited more than a dozen countries, and one of my most memorable experiences was swimming with sharks and stingrays during a trip to Belize.
