Live Web Broadcasts Inform and Educate Physicians
Since 2001, Thomas Jefferson University
Hospital in Philadelphia, PA has been
utilizing the internet as a vehicle to broad-cast
live medical procedures to educate and
inform physicians as well as consumers
about advanced surgical procedures. While
watching the webcast, physicians can earn
CME credit, use e-mail to ask questions that
are answered live and make a referral. Our
most recent webcast – small incision total
hip replacement – resulted in over 4,000
hits to the event page both nationally and
internationally. The webcast was also
successful in the number of email ques-tions,
CME registrations as well as referrals
and appointments that were generated.
